Barn Owl Original Scratchbord (Ampersand©)

This barn owl is an original scratchboard piece that is part of a series of owl pieces that include 5 other species of North American owls.

One thing that I found interesting about this particular owl is the eye color, they are often brown or a shade of golden brown.

The surface is a popular inked hardboard named "Scratchbord" produced by Ampersand©. They are particularly easy and economically friendly. You can purchase a frame from any store (including Walmart), remove the glass and place your scratchboard piece where the glass used to be.

The scratchboard does not need glass and can be treated like an acrylic or oil piece of artwork because, they are coated with an acrylic sealer for protection. They can be dusted or wiped with a soft cloth.
